Depuis bien avant les impératifs liés à la pandémie, le réseau des cégeps offre à la population étudiante diverses formules en ligne pour suivre leurs cours de manière virtuelle et à distance. À l’instar de la TELUQ pour le niveau universitaire, le Cégep à distance et le Cégep virtuel sont en effet deux modalités d'enseignement qui répondent aux besoins variés des étudiantes et des étudiants en matière de flexibilité et d'accessibilité.
