About the program

The DEC in Natural Sciences – First Nations and Inuit option
This program will help you build the foundation needed to pursue studies in science, while learning in an environment that reflects who you are and supports the strengthening of your First Nations or Inuit identity.

Field trips in Ndakina (ancestral Wabanaki territory) and in university laboratories will allow you to learn outside the classroom and explore various scientific fields.
In this program, you’ll also have the opportunity to take courses in First Nations languages and Indigenous contemporary art history.

Scientific training in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics will also highlight the knowledge and cultures of First Nations and Inuit peoples.
With your scientific skills and the strength of your identity, you’ll be empowered to support the self-determination of your Nation in your chosen professional field.
