DCS Social science : Education, family and childhood option
This college program is designed to prepare students for university studies in major fields such as social sciences, law, education sciences, and business administration, through a scientific education based on the acquisition and integration of knowledge and methods from various human science disciplines.
About the program
The general objectives of the program are to:
- Identify key facts, concepts, and notions from both disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives related to the study of the human phenomenon;
- Explain theories, laws, models, and schools of thought in relation to their authors and the realities they address;
- Situate various issues related to citizenship within a globalized context;
- Demonstrate the qualities of a scientific and critical mind, as well as skills related to both qualitative and quantitative methods appropriate to the human sciences;
- Use work and research methods necessary for continuing studies;
- Use appropriate information processing technologies;
- Communicate ideas clearly and correctly in the language of instruction;
- Read and understand foundational documents in human sciences written in the second language;
- Integrate acquired knowledge throughout the learning process within the program.
How these general objectives are addressed is determined by each college. Each discipline selected by the institution to implement the program may reflect these objectives using its own vocabulary and logic. Furthermore, each course contributes to achieving one or more of these objectives. What matters is that all objectives are covered in one or more courses and become specific teaching and learning goals, as they are essential for pursuing university studies in human sciences. The Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Human Sciences must attest to their achievement.
