Techniques des métiers d'art : construction textile

This arts and crafts course focuses on personal expression, production methods and market realities. A specialization in textile construction enables you to work with fibres and textile materials, make patterns and create original works for utilitarian, decorative or artistic purposes.

About the program

Program objectives
Covering personal expression, a chosen method of production and the realities of the market, this program is indeed an ambitious one. Using a material and technique of choice, artisans must create, fabricate and share works of produced objects. The manner in which the program is structured reflects the ongoing relationship between creation and the management of the resulting object.

Textile construction
This specialization trains individuals to become artisans specialized in working with fibres and textiles and capable of creating or designing original pieces that serve a utilitarian or decorative purpose or are simply the result of artistic expression. These pieces can be produced either as unique individual works or in multiple copies.

These textile specialists create works or products, estimate costs, make patterns, dye pieces or fibres, create knits or weaves and oversee production.

They also perform many tasks related to managing projects, marketing products or works as well as starting-up and managing a workshop.

Graduates in this particular specialization work in designing, fabricating or repairing textile pieces and other highly original and personal works. They can be hired by textile construction workshops, find jobs in the textile industry, work as freelancers or start their own businesses.
