Professional Music & Song Techniques

This program trains artists to work in various genres of popular music, basically 20th-century music and vocal music for entertainment and mass distribution. This program has three specialization tracks: composition and arrangement, performance and musical theatre performance.

About the program

Program objectives
This program trains individuals to become artists capable of evolving in various styles of popular music. These styles mainly include 20th-century music and song produced as entertainment for the mass market.

Specialization A: Composition and arrangement
This specialization gives students the skills and knowledge required to work as music arrangers, composers or producers. Music arrangers modify songs in order to adapt them to specific contexts. Other than instrumental music and songs, those mandated with arranging and composing music can also be called up to create musical productions for the movies, advertising or for multimedia purposes.

Specialization B: Performance
This specialization trains students to become instrumentalists or singers of popular music. They can be soloists, members of a musical ensemble or back-up singers, and must be highly skilled performers. In certain situations, it is also ideal for them to have improvisation and theatrical skills. These individuals work on stage or in recording studios. They can be mandated with putting together a show and taking care of the programming, directing a group of singers or producing audio material.

Specialization C: Music Theatre Performance
This specialization trains students to become music theatre performers capable of combining acting, singing and dancing. Music theatre performers are multidisciplinary artists who work with a focus on combining techniques (acting, singing, dancing) in their performances. In general, they are expected to work on stage or in studio (television, movies, advertising, videos, etc.). Performers interpret dramatic works and express themselves through their character (role). The character therefore becomes the embodiment of acting, dance and song.
