About the program
Program objectives
This program trains students to become sound technicians capable of handling the artistic and technological aspects of events, concerts and audiovisual productions.
Sound technicians work mainly in the following sectors of activity: production companies, postproduction studios, sound recording studios, broadcasting and radiobroadcasting departments, sound departments, concert venues as well as video game design or multimedia content companies.
Their job consists mainly of handling the production and postproduction of sound projects as well as overseeing sound diffusion during various events. Technicians must ensure that the sound is of the best quality at all times. Their work is usually done live or in studio.
Over and above the technological aspects they are responsible for, sound technicians are expected to design — in other words, create and plan the sound environment for a given production or to be integrated into a video game or multimedia content.
Sound technicians work both outdoors (film set, documentaries, news reports, etc.) and indoors (mostly for movie or television production). They use specialized equipment and software for sound production, which they distribute using various types of media and in different formats.
