Cost and Financial Assistance

Thanks to available financial assistance programs, you may be exempt from the tuition fees normally charged to international students! Learn more about the Tuition Exemption Program and the Scholarship Program available to international applicants.

Tuition fees vary depending on the program, and international students are required to pay these fees each semester. However, if you are a French citizen and you do not reside in another Canadian province at the time of your application, you will be exempt from the international tuition fees normally charged to students enrolling in a CEGEP.

If you are the spouse, dependent son or daughter of a person whose main reason for being in Québec is to work and who holds a closed work permit or a post-graduation work permit, you will also be exempt from the international tuition fees normally charged at CEGEPs.

Financial Assistance

Depending on your country of citizenship and place of residence, you may be eligible for tuition exemptions, scholarships, or financial support in partnership with your home region.

If you are a French citizen and you do not reside in another Canadian province at the time of your application, you will be exempt from the international tuition fees charged to students enrolling in a CEGEP.

If you are not a French citizen, you may still be eligible for one of the programs below:

Tuition Exemption Program

This program allows international students enrolled in a technical program leading to a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) to be exempt from the additional international tuition fees.

To apply, you must be admitted to or enrolled in a CEGEP. The designated staff at your CEGEP will provide the application form.

Scholarship Program

This program provides international students with a scholarship for a technical training program of up to three years. These programs usually last three years and prepare students to enter the workforce. However, you may also choose to continue your studies at the university level after completing your CEGEP diploma.

All scholarship recipients receive: a CA$14,000 yearly scholarship, a full exemption from additional international tuition fees, and health insurance coverage from the Québec Health Insurance Board (RAMQ)

Financial Assistance for Students from Réunion

Applicants from Réunion Island may be eligible for financial support from the Région Réunion.
