Student Services and Campus Life
Student Support
International students are warmly welcomed at CEGEPs. Most institutions organize activities as soon as the school year begins.
These help you get to know your new environment and adapt to Québec culture. Depending on the CEGEP, activities may include:
-
guided tours
-
Québec culture workshops
-
cooking classes
-
sports and social events
-
intercultural week
-
themed meetups
Beyond orientation, students have access to several ongoing services throughout their studies.
Academic Support - Help Centres
All CEGEPs offer subject-specific help centres, covering areas such as French, math, philosophy, English, and information technology.
Tutoring
Most CEGEPs offer peer tutoring programs for academic and emotional support. Options may include lab help, content workshops, and assistance in French, English, or philosophy.
Psychological Services
Students experiencing personal, academic, family, or emotional difficulties—or who simply need someone to talk to—can consult a psychologist. All services are free and confidential.
Academic and Career Guidance
Career and guidance counsellors can help you define your educational path, explore the job market, or access relevant information. These services also organize career fairs, workshops, conferences, and information sessions.
Job Search Support
Many cégeps have student employment offices that help with part-time or summer jobs. Graduates can also get assistance finding work in their field. Services may include:
-
job boards
-
dynamic job search training
-
help writing résumés
-
interview prep workshops
Technology Services
Cégeps are equipped with numerous computers connected to the internet, often available both day and evening.
Students can also connect their personal devices to the CEGEP’s wifi network and access computer labs with modern technology.
Most CEGEPs also offer internal online platforms where students can:
-
view class schedules and grades
-
access course materials and virtual libraries
-
communicate with staff and other students
-
store and retrieve personal files
Libraries
Each cégep has a library open to students (and sometimes the public) with thousands of resources:
-
reference works
-
books and atlases
-
DVDs, music CDs, CD-ROMs
-
academic journals
-
digital resources (dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.)
