About the program

The Financial services and insurance technology program trains students to become technicians who have the skills and knowledge required to exercise the following professions:

The main tasks of technicians are

settling claims
evaluating risk
recommending and selling general insurance products to individuals and businesses, individual and group insurance products as well as savings, investment and credit products
As part of their duties, financial service and insurance technicians must conform to the legal and regulatory framework of financial services and insurance.

Part of the work done by technicians involves analysis, specifically with relation to:

individual or group insurance plans
savings and investment products
Technicians work in companies in the sectors of damage insurance, life insurance and financial services: banking institutions, credit unions, lending institutions, insurance and reinsurance companies, insurance and securities brokers, trust businesses as well as companies specialized in portfolio management, mutual funds and pension plans. This profession is carried out in both the private and public sectors.

Technicians are often called upon to interact with both French and English-speaking clients and work together with other professionals in the damage insurance, life insurance and financial services sectors. Maintaining good relationships with clientele is an important dimension of the work done by technicians in the field of insurance and financial services.

In carrying out their profession, these technicians work in a computerized environment, either within a business or from home. They can be strictly salaried workers or paid a commission based on sales. Travel may be required as part of their work.
