FAQ
Admission requirements
To be admitted to a cégep, you must have completed at least eleven years of schooling in your home country.
In the French system, this means completing Première.
However, it’s strongly recommended that you finish your baccalauréat before coming to study in Québec.
Some programs also have prerequisites—specific courses you must have completed and passed. These are listed in the program descriptions.
Educational equivalency
The regional admission service will assess how your academic background compares to the Québec requirements for cégep admission.
Admission decisions are made by each cégep.
Each cégep also decides whether or not to grant course equivalencies based on your previous education.
Admission fee
Admission is based on your academic file. There’s a non-refundable application fee of $85 CAD. Check the website of the appropriate regional admission service to see accepted payment methods.
Your application will be processed once you:
-
Complete the online form
-

Application deadlines
For the fall session starting in August: Apply before February 1 of the same year.
For the winter session starting in January: Apply before September 1 of the previous year.
After these dates, available programs may vary.
Winter admissions
Important: If you start your studies in the winter session, your program may take longer to complete. Some courses may only be offered in the fall, meaning you'll need to wait until the next fall session to take them. Check with your chosen cégep if you have questions.
French language test
ome applicants must take a French language test, depending on the information provided in their application.
If a test is required, visit the website of your cégep's regional admission service for a list of accepted tests:
-
If your cégep is part of SRAM, check the “Language Test” section.
-
If your cégep is part of SRACQ, check the “French Language Proficiency Tests Recognized by SRACQ” section.
-
If your cégep is part of SRASL, check the “Accepted French Language Tests” section.
If no test is required, your academic results in French must exceed the minimum pass grade to be eligible to study at a French-language cégep in Québec.
